More About Me / My Tech Editor Style
What's your editorial background?
I've been an English professor for over 20 years. During that time, I've written a few books, edited a few others, and run an academic journal. I'm also a passionate teacher who loves to see my students succeed. I enjoy giving constructive feedback on projects and helping others find their voice.

I have completed the Tech Editor Hub's Technical Editing Course and I'm in the process of finishing their Master Class on Grading.

I have experience working across multiple word processing programs, PDF software, and, of course, spreadsheets (I mean how else could I get all that student grading finished!)
What's your knitting background?
I love sweaters. The construction, the colors, the cables, the endless potential for modification! And I absolutely love that the knitting world is becoming more and more size inclusive and body positive--everyone should be able to knit their best sweater!

I've been knitting (mostly sweaters) for the last decade. I think I'm hovering somewhere around 73 at this point! And I've worked with a number of designers as a test and sample knitter.

I enjoy digging into the details, geeking out about new (to-me) knitting techniques, reading everything I can get my eyes on, and knitting EVERYDAY.

How did you get interested in Tech Editing?
Like you, I enjoy knitting along to a really GOOD pattern--one that makes sense, is well written, and has the correct stitch counts!

I also really care about this knitting community of ours and want to see it continue to thrive. Which means we need designers and knitters to exist in a happy harmony. That's where Tech Editors come in . . . we help both designers and knitters achieve their goals!

Over the last decade, as I produced knitting tutorials, classes, and podcasts, I've been an outspoken proponent of modifying patterns so that they FIT. When I tech edit a pattern, it taps into this deep interest in math and design.
